Fuji X-Pro2 High ISO Samples: NY Transit Museum

Fuji X-Pro2 High ISO Samples: NY Transit Museum:

I am actually working on a few other reviews but I thought since I have some images left over from my review of the Fuji X-Pro2, I would post them up instead of wasting them.  These are images that I took from my trip to the NY Transit Museum and they are actually good examples of the high ISO capabilities of the X-Pro2.  This is a very cool museum, and unlike many of the others around New York City, this one isn’t always that crowded, so it can be a lot more relaxing ;).  According to their website, it is actually the largest museum in the United States devoted to urban public transportation history.

As I said, there’s a lot of great stuff to see.  You get to see how trains have evolved and changed over time.  You get to see what they decided to keep and what they discarded.  You also get to see all the cool ads in the trains from all these years.  Plus, since it’s not always that crowded, it’s a great place to go to when the busyness of the city get’s to an annoying level ;).  I lived here all my life, and while I love New York, there are definitely those days when I just want a little piece of it to myself.  It’s quiet here, and you can take your sweet old time looking around at whatever they have to offer.  What I particularly like is how I can actually walk through the trains themselves.  You can sit on the benches.  You can hold a handrail.

The NY Transit Museum is in Downtown Brooklyn, so it’s a very short train ride from Manhattan.  Plus, it’s near Brooklyn Heights, so you can walk over to the Promenade where you can see Manhattan or walk down to Dumbo.  Both those places are great to visit, if you’re vacationing and want to take pictures.

↑ I love these round windows.  They remind me of the Jetsons for some reason.  Zeiss Touit 12mm at 6400 ISO.

So, as I said earlier, all these shots were taken with the Fuji X-Pro2.  The lenses I used were the XF 35mm F1.4 and my favorite, the Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8.  This is one of my most used lenses.  The X-Pro2’s ISO can climb up to 51200 ISO but I used a variety of ISO ratings up to only 6400 ISO out of habit.  The ISO info is below each image.

I hope you enjoy the images, and I hope they give you a sense of the ISO capabilities of the X-Pro2.  If you live in NYC or visit, go visit the museum because it’s very cool :).  Thanks for stopping by!

  • Good job, i love the old ads keeps in the trains. The X-pro2 is an amazing camera with – finally – a good joystick focus and a truly awesome IQ. But the battery sucks…
By the way, I don’t know this museum and for sure, next time in NYC, I’ll go to this museum 😉

      Hi Fa Brice,

I appreciate the kind words, and thanks for taking the time to look at my post! I completely agree with you about the X-Pro2 including the battery :). I can understand why Fuji might’ve wanted to keep it. No one wants to have to buy new batteries but in this case, I think a larger battery would make the X-Pro2 even better. Yes, definitely check out the museum when you visit next!

      Take care,

      Patrick

    Patrick,

What a great museum to have so nearby, & the photos you took really do convey quite a lot about it. The high ISO capability of the XP2 is most impressive & I could see little if any noise in any of them. Thanks for sharing more of the images you captured with this great new Fuji X camera. Cheers,

    Jed

      Hi Jed,

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for your kind words! It’s a great little museum; I still remember going to it on school trips. As for the Fuji, the high ISO is excellent, and to me, it’s not even just the noise improvement that makes it so good; there’s also not much desaturation. As always, thanks for stopping by!

      Best,

      Patrick
