The Gear I’m Bringing to Tokyo Japan:
It’s that time again…vacation time lol. This time around, I’m going back to Tokyo. I haven’t been in a few years, and quite frankly, I miss it. I miss the sounds, the smells, the lights, and the amazing food! This time around, I am going to try Fugu (puffer fish sushi). Wish me luck :). I’m also bringing a couple of things with me to review.
One of the items that I will be reviewing is the Leica M10. I really need to thank Bergen County Camera, and the Leica rep for this. I haven’t really touched an M since I bought my SL, and I haven’t really had much time to use it yet, so it’ll probably take a little getting used to again. But I must say, it does feel like an old friend. It is an absolutely beautiful camera, and I can’t wait to use it. I will be bringing three lenses with me: the 35mm Summicron ASPH, the 18mm Super Elmar, and my favorite M lens, the 50mm Summilux ASPH. A simple, light kit that should basically cover all my bases for street photography in Tokyo.
The other item that I am reviewing is the new Hadley Small Pro. I’ve been using this bag for a little bit, and it is a perfect match for the M kit. It is also a fantastic bag. I have the original Hadley Small, and I have to say, I love the Pro version’s improvements. My first impressions post will come next week, so stay tuned.
As for reviews, I know I said I would finish the Fuji reviews before I leave but I just didn’t have the time. My apologies, I’ve been really busy but in the next couple of months, you will see why :). So, please bare with me, those reviews will come after I return. I will also write up my Leica 90mm APO Summicron-SL ASPH review. I will have plenty of examples in that review. I’ve been really working on getting good pics for that lens review :).
As always, thanks for stopping by! I will try to update stuff here while I am gone. As I said, I will post a first impressions of the new Hadley Small Pro. I will post a lot of stuff from Tokyo on Instagram, so if you haven’t yet, you can join me there too :). Take care!
Hey Patrick, have a safe trip and I’m sure you’ll make lots of nice pictures. Puffer fish sushi sounds very exotic though that reminds me of cute small puffer fish I planned to keep but didn’t survive 🙁
Look forward to your reviews as always, have been checking every day 🙂
Can’t wait to see the M shots from Japan!
Thanks inthedarkroom!
I bet you will like the M10 a lot. Have a nice trip Patrick.
Hi Elderin,
Apologies for the late reply and thanks for the well wishes! Yes, the M10 is definitely a nice camera. It’s even more M than the past digital Ms lol.
Best,
Patrick
Patrick,
It will be interesting to read what you have to say about using the M10 after having moved into the SL world. And I would like to hear your thoughts about using the optical viewfinder on the M10 versus the electronic one on the SL, particularly in terms of differences in dynamic range & low light usage. But have another great trip back to Japan. Travel safe,
Jed
Hi Jed,
Apologies for getting back to you so late. I will definitely add all of that in my M10 review when I get back. Thanks for the well wishes,
Best,
Patrick
