Cool Street Art in Williamsburg:
It’s finally Friday, and I’m sure many of you have plans for this Memorial Day weekend. I thought I’d post something bright and colorful to get the weekend started. The place that I get my hair cut temporarily moved from Alphabet City in Manhattan to Williamsburg in Brooklyn. It’s a bit of a trek to get there from where I live but it’s been nice because it forces me to leave the comforts of areas I normally shoot. What I’ve been noticing a lot around Williamsburg (at least in the limited areas that I’ve been exploring) is really cool street art literally painted on buildings. I just love seeing stuff like this. Here’s a pic I thought I’d post up. The artist has credited himself in the artwork.
I just love the colors, and I believe stuff like this looks great in photographs. I think it’s amazing that someone can do something like this on a wall of a building with what I assume is spray paint. It was especially nice seeing all of these colors on one of the rainy, dreary days that we’ve been having. Here’s what I mean by dreary. This is a pic taken on the same day:

Setup of choice for this particular day was the Leica M 240 and the 18mm Super Elmar. I hope all of you have a great weekend!

Greeted With a Nice Sunset in New York City:
I was coming back from fishing last week, and I saw a really nice sunset. In fact, I don’t remember a time when I saw such a red sky here in New York City. It felt like I was on Mars or something (I don’t think this was related to the alignment of Mars, the Sun, and the Moon that occurred last week). I took pics with my iPhone but it was getting dark, and the car was moving too fast (I was not driving). Plus, with the amount of potholes in that area of Queens (actually, all of New York City), I’m not sure that road can even be called a paved road anymore ;).
Luckily, I live by the motto, “take your camera everywhere you go”, so I did bring my Fuji X-E2. I took a few pics but again, I was in a moving car, it was dark, and there were plenty of other cars on the road that got into my frame, so I didn’t get any really great shots. I was thinking, “Man, I wish I could be at my favorite spot in Brooklyn right now with my camera set up on a tripod” but hey, you can’t plan every moment, right? The important thing was I just wanted to record it for myself, and remember it. Anyway, I kind of like this shot, so I thought I would post it up. It was shot at 3200 ISO on the Kosciuszko Bridge, and with the XF 18-55mm at F2.8 because I needed a really fast shutter speed to compensate for the moving car.
I hope everyone is having a great Monday. Thanks for visiting!

Fuji X-T1 Review Sneak Peak: Woman Walking by WTC
Hey everyone! I spent the weekend finishing up my Fuji X-T1 review, and now, I’m just adding the final touches it. Sorry my review is late! It will be posted sometime tomorrow though. For now, I thought I would post a photo from the X-T1, which I shot on a walk to WTC (World Trade Center). I used one of my favorite lenses, the Zeiss 12mm Touit.
If you’re a frequent visitor of my blog, you’ve probably seen me used this lens a lot. It’s a workhorse, I get consistent results from it, and it’s actually my most used lens on the Fuji system even though it’s an 18mm equivalent. Surprising but true. I love, LOVE this lens. As for the woman in the photo, she was nice, and laugh afterwards because I had to get really low to the ground to get this shot :).
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Last Weekend With My Fuji X-E2 and Zeiss Touit 12mm:
Over the weekend, my friend Haru came over from Westchester to help me out. As some of you know, Bob at Bergen County Camera was nice enough to lend me a Leica 75 Summarit, and I wanted to test it out on a person. Luckily I have a very patient and understanding friend :). So far, the lens is fantastic. Best of all, it’s not much bigger than a 50mm lens. I’m writing up a review on it using my M 240 but I will also be writing up my experience with it on my X-E2. The lens actually works superbly on Fuji, and since the lens isn’t that heavy, it still feels very balance on the X-E2. [continue reading…]

Winter Storm Hercules:
Winter Storm Hercules hit us last night, and it was pretty intense but what really makes this snowstorm so bad, in my opinion, is the extreme cold that came along with it. After shoveling for the whole morning, I thought I’d go out with my new Fuji X-E2, but I didn’t get far. I live by the water, so I definitely feel the cold around here.
