Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in Brooklyn With My Fuji X-Pro1 And X100:

Hey everyone, what a night!  Hurricane Sandy sure left a mess here in New York!  Some of the roads are just beginning to open up but no trains for quite some time.  The stations are completely flooded!  Mayor Bloomberg said there may be buses tomorrow but they will be limited.  There are people still without power.  Since I couldn’t get into Manhattan, I thought I’d walk around my neighborhood to check out the damage that Hurricane Sandy left here. One Quick Rainy Visit to Roosevelt Island With My Fuji X100:

Hey everyone, the weather sure has changed quickly, hasn’t it?  It got surprisingly cold over the last few days here in New York, which is what I was hoping for I guess.  Sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I have been running around the city a lot, which has been cutting into my photography time.  I have been carrying around my Fuji X100 though. Flushing Queens:

If any of you are visiting New York, and want to see a Chinatown, you should check out the one in Flushing Queens.  It is huge when compared to the one in Manhattan, and it seems overlooked by many tourists.  It’s also quite livelier with many more people walking around giving you plenty of opportunity for some street photos.

↑ Roosevelt Ave. where the 7 train drops you off.  This is one of the busiest streets if not the busiest here in Flushing. [continue reading…]

There were a Couple of Foggy Days Here in New York City

Foggy Day in New York City:

I was driving back from Queens the other day, and I took my usual route, which was getting on the Belt Parkway from the BQE.  I don’t actually have to take the Belt; in fact, it costs me an additional ten minutes but it’s the scenic route :).  You drive right by the water, and for that short stretch that I’m on, there’s usually no traffic.  On my drive, I saw an unusual fog rolling in, and all the ships that were parked taking safe harbor.  It looked so nice, especially for New York City.  The patterns of the fog looked were very unique especially with the sun trying to peak out here and there.  I quickly drove back to my place, and took my Leica M9 out.  I walked down to the shore (there’s a long boardwalk), and what sucked was I got there a little too late (The only day, I decided NOT to take my M9 with me).  The fog was still there but the lighting was no where near the same.

A Little More 75 Summilux…:

The weather is warm, the sun is out, and everyone is playing outside.  I’m still here in front of my computer processing a whole bunch of photos.  But that’s ok with me I guess since I actually prefer the cold :).  It gets so insanely crowded once spring comes to New York City but I guess you can’t blame anyone.  It’s great walking around without a coat :).  Here’s a photo of a New York City cab for you all :).  It’s a simple photo but still one of my favorites.  It was shot with my Leica M9 and 75 Summilux.  This print came out great on Kodak’s metallic paper.
