Multi-Part Comparison Between Fuji X-E1 And Olympus OM-D in The Works:
Check out what I was able to get my hands on today…an Olympus OM-D with the Panasonic 25 Summilux F1.4, and the kit zoom! I just so happen to own the Fuji X-E1 with the XF 35mm, and its kit zoom…hmm…this spells like the beginnings of a really cool comparison! I will have the Olympus for quite some time so I’m thinking of making a multi-part comparison between the cameras, the cameras with both of these wonderful 50mm equivalents, and of course, the cameras with their kit zooms. I’m not going to lie to you; it’s going to be hard for me to be completely unbiased since I love my X-E1 so much. But for the sake of this comparison, I promise I’ll be as fair as I possible. Plus, the OM-D is one killer camera in its own right.
What else? Well, I’ll be pretty busy with that but I have a few other posts coming up as well. Btw, for those who own an X-E1, and are wondering if the new firmware is worth getting, I used it all day with the XF 35mm, and it works fine. I did not experience any noise issues, and my camera did state that it has the current firmware. Just make sure that if you install the new firmware, you also install the newest firmware for the XF 35mm. I honestly didn’t feel like it was that much of an improvement…maybe it was slightly more accurate in darker settings but that could just be wishful thinking. I never really felt like I had a problem focusing with the XF 35mm before.
Anyway, I hope all of you have a great weekend!

New Fuji Firmware For the X-E1 Version 1.04 and X-Pro1 Version 2.03:
Fuji users, there is new firmware for your X-Pro1 (click here), and X-E1 (click here). But according to some readers on Fujirumors.com, there might be some issues. There are a few who say that while focus may have improved with the XF 35mm, it has slowed down, and become noisier. There are also many who have said that there are no problems whatsoever. I think I’m going to give it a try. Maybe some are forgetting to update the lens as well, so if you decide to update your camera, make sure you also update the XF 35mm lens (click here).
Here’s what Fuji says the firmware is suppose to do:
- Adding the compatibility with “XF14mmF2.8R”.
You will get the full performance of “XF14mmF2.8R”, including Manual Focus function.
- 2.Improvement in performance
- (1)Accuracy of auto focus performance has been much improved under a various shooting condition.
Shooting with XF35mm lens, Shooting for the target with relatively high frequency, One-push AF by pressing AE-L/AF-L button,
- <Notice>
- To enable more accurate AF performance with XF35mm lens, please update the firmware of your Fujinon XF35mm lens at the same time. Firmware version must be Ver 2.02 or later.
- (2)Improvement of unexpected pixels recorded in the top far-left taken with XF18-55mm Lens under the condition of middle range focal length.
If any of you have already tried the new Fuji firmware, please feel free to comment below, and tell us about your experience. I’m actually in the process of updating both my X-Pro1 and X-E1 now, since I’m going out all day to shoot. It would be a great way to test the new firmware, and I’ll be sure to mention my experiences with it here. Take care everyone!

More Updates And Improvements to Finding Range!
Hey everyone! Traffic is steadily increasing now, so with the help of my brother in-law (who makes some awesome websites like webkinzinsider.com), I decided to make some new changes to Finding Range to try, and improve it. Recently, I put a new “My Gear” page, and a “Contact Me” under the “About Me” menu. I will sort things out better, and make things easier to find as time goes on but go check out my new “My Gear” page. Some of you have asked me what I use on a daily basis, and those items on that page are it. There’s stuff ranging from Leica, Fuji, Billingham, Gepe, Gitzo, and whatever else I use. I also linked most of the equipment that I use to my reviews, so you can read those posts if you want as well. Also, If any of you want to contact me to ask me a specific question or even just to say hi, please feel free!
As for new content, more posts will be on the way, including a little mini review coming out in the next couple of days, some awesome photos at Disney with the Fuji X-Pro1, and some comparison tests between all of the fix focal length XF lenses, and the zoom. Of course, there will be other stuff as well so please stay tuned! Thanks for coming to Finding Range, and thanks for the support everyone! Take care!

Fuji X20 at Amazon or Adorama (silver or black)
When I had the opportunity to review the X10, I was completely blown away. The X20 has got to be pretty amazing, especially since they put a new X-Trans sensor in it. But I think many are looking forward to the X100S, which definitely has been improved over its predecessor. Here are some of the improvements for both of these cameras: [continue reading…]
