Zeiss Touit Full Review Coming Soon:

Btw everyone, I almost forgot to mention (been very busy editing A LOT of photos 😉 ); I’ll be writing up detailed reviews for both Zeiss Touit lenses for the Fuji X-Series very soon.  I know it’s a bit late but I got them a little late.  I had the opportunity to go to the Zeiss Touit Event thanks to Bob at Bergen County Camera a while back, and I instantly fell for these lenses. A Leica Mini M Announcement on June 11th?

A Leica Mini M Announcement on June 11th?:

On June 11th, Leica will be announcing a new camera: the Leica Mini M.  This bit of news has definitely got me wondering what this new Mini M is all about.   Will it be the EVIL camera that so many have been waiting for from Leica?  There aren’t many details at all but it will be placed right between the M line, and the X2.  Many questions are going through my head as we speak.

First off, if the Mini M has interchangeable lenses, will it use M lenses?

If it does, it would be pretty cool because that means I can just buy the body, and use my existing M lenses :).  It would be similar to what the Leica CL was back in the day.   That might give the Leica M series competition that it doesn’t want but who knows, the Mini M could have a cropped sensor.  Plus, one thing that I’ve noticed about Leica in the recent years is that they definitely like to surprise people.  Sometimes I feel like they’re turning into the Apple of camera companies lol.  Perfect example of this: the Leica Monochrome and even some of the technology in the new M Typ 240.  But then again, the Mini M is placed between the M and X2, so I would guess that it would be cheaper than the M, which suggests to me that maybe they might make lenses specifically for it.

Will this be a stripped down version of the M 240?

If it is a stripped down version of the M 240, then what will happen with the Leica M-E?  Plus, I would imagine that this would compete with the M 240, which Leica probably doesn’t want.

Whatever it is, it’s great to see Leica expanding their product line.  Personally, I’m hoping the new Mini M will be a cool little mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.  Imagine a Mini M vs. Fuji X-Pro1 comparison post…wouldn’t that be cool :)?.  What do all of you think?  Would any of you buy one?  Would any of you trade in your Fuji stuff if the price was right?

New Zeiss Touit Lenses For The Fuji X Mount:

Wow, how cool is this?  Zeiss is finally coming out with their lenses for the Fuji X Mount.  You can even pre-order the Touit Series lenses from several places.  There are a few sites already talking about the new Zeiss lenses but in case you didn’t know, Zeiss is initially coming out with two lenses. The Leica M Typ 240 Loose Carrying Strap Eyelets:

Hey everyone.  Sorry for the lack of posts.  I’ve been really busy shooting with the Leica M.  I’ve just been having a blast with it, and I will be posting more stuff soon but guess what?  Just when I was about to post my Leica M Typ 240 review I read this on Facebook:

Precautionary Check for all Leica M (Typ 240) deliivered before April 5 2013: Loose Carrying Strap Eyelets.

Basically, the eyelets can come loose while you use the camera.  It’s not every Leica M but I had this bad feeling mine might have to go back (I have bad luck like this sometimes lol), and sure enough, I found out from Leica NJ that mine has to go off to Germany.  Yes, Germany, you read that correctly.  This absolutely sucks.  I had the camera for like three weeks.

Do I regret buying it so early?  Not really because it’s a pretty awesome camera.  I’ve been out shooting almost everyday with it, and have fallen in love with this thing.  Plus, at least I’ll have more time with it before they replace it with an M11 but this is definitely not cool.  At least Leica is fully acknowledging the issue, and doing the right thing by fixing it.  Plus, I they said it wouldn’t take so long.  If you want more info about this, you can check out Leica’s page about this issue.  Right now, I’m just waiting for Leica to give me more info on what I need to do next.

Anyone else bought the new Leica M yet?  Did anyone find out if they need to send theirs back?  Feel free to leave a comment.  I’ll post my Leica M review today or tomorrow.  Take care.

Fuji X-E1-vs-Olympus-OM-D-Post

What’s Coming Next?: X-E1 vs. OM-D Comparison, RX100, Leica M:

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of posts!  I was sick for a bit, and just when I thought it was over, I got REALLY sick!  It figures that the only year I didn’t get a flu shot is the year I actually get the flu.  To make up for the lack of posts, I’ll be posting my Fuji X-E1 vs. Olympus OM-D Comparison Part One today or tomorrow.  It’s finished but I’m just adding final touches to it.

So what’s new in the photo world these days?  Well, I heard some places in the U.S. like Adorama are finally shipping the Fuji X20.  The silver one looks beautiful.  I had an X10 on loan (check out my review), and it was simply fantastic.  Some lucky people have finally received their Leica M cameras.  I’m still waiting for mine but when I get it, I will definitely be shooting with it A LOT, and posting like crazy.  I’m thinking about writing an on-going review of it through the months or years that I will be owning it.

What else?  I got my hands on a Sony RX100!  Unfortunately, it’s not mine but I will be shooting with that for a bit soon.  It’s such a cool little camera, and it definitely is the definition of a small compact camera that simply rocks!  I was even thinking about doing a crazy comparison test between the RX1o0, and the X-E1…who knows :).

Also, I received a pair of Pocket Wizard Plus III‘s for my birthday, so I’m hoping to try out some off camera flash/studio lighting techniques with the X-E1 and the new M when I receive it.  I’ve been actually really wanting to get more into this type of photography for a long time, so it should be really fun!

Finally, there will probably be a guest post or two coming here in the near future.  I think guest posts are great because it’s always good to hear from everyone about their views of photography or even photo equipment.  Variety is the spice of life, right? 🙂  Also, it’s mutually beneficial for both parties because both will get more exposure, and it’s a great way to meet new photographers out there.  So, if any of you EVER want to write up a guest post, feel free to send me an email.

Anyway, enough talk.  I’m still quite sick but I will definitely get my X-E1 vs. OM-D comparison post out today or tomorrow.  Thanks to all for the patience and support on this site!
