Option to Buy Some Leica M Lenses Made in Germany or Portugal

Option to Buy Some Leica M Lenses Made in Germany or Portugal:

For those wanting to save some money when buying new M lenses, Leica has a new option: There are select M lenses that are now being made in Portugal and Germany.  According to Leica, the lenses made in their Portugal factory offer the same stringent design, construction tolerances, and pristine quality as the ones made in Germany.  Here are the lenses being offered:

I think this is a good idea overall.  For some, this may be a better option than buying used gear.  You’ll save some money, and also get something that is brand spanking new with warranty.  It’s worth nothing that the lenses Leica has chosen so far are some of the more popular ones too.  Plus, It’s great that they added the 50mm f1.4 Lux ASPH Black Chrome Edition, and one of my favorite M lenses, the 28mm Summaron (For those interested in my review of it, you can read it here).

More Reviews And Posts Coming Soon:

Hey everyone.  Apologies for the posts slowing down a bit.  I pinched a nerve in my back and shoulder area two weeks ago, and the pain has been excruciating.  It has been steadily getting better, which is good but it’s been taking its sweet old time.  It has been making daily tasks extremely difficult, such as, sitting and typing (It took forever to write up that Fuji X-T4 review).  I’ve pinched a nerve before, and usually, I’m much better after a week.  Anyway, a few reviews are coming soon.  Next up is probably going to be my Voigtlander 35mm f1.2 review.  I also have the Fuji X100V, and the Peak Design Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod in the mix too.

If you’ve read my first impressions of the Voigtlander 35mm f1.2, you’ve already seen the picture above.  It was one of the first shots I took with the lens, and man, the bokeh is pretty awesome coming from it at f1.2.  All photos have been shot with my SL2, and I have finished my testing it.  I am currently in the writing/typing process.  For now, you can check out my first impressions of it here.  Thanks for stopping by!

Nikon Z5 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Announced:

This is definitely interesting news: The Nikon Z5 has been announced.  This is a full frame mirrorless Nikon that’s priced at $1,396.95, which puts it in the ballpark of many popular APS-C mirrorless cameras, such as, some of the Fuji bodies.  For those interested in a little more info or to pre-order, check the link below:

I reviewed the Nikon Z 50 a while back, and loved it (review of the Z 50 here).  The only thing I really thought was missing were more lenses, which I’m sure Nikon will fix sooner or later.  I even preferred the out of camera jpegs over the ones from my Fuji.  I won’t lie; the Z5 is tempting to me ;).  I’m definitely interested to see how this camera is, and for some specs on it plus pics, read below: [continue reading…]
