Night Images With The Leica 18mm Super Elmar:
I am writing up my Fuji X70 review as we speak but I thought I’d post some photos I took last week with my Leica M 240. Last Friday, I met up with a friend, and of course, I also brought along my camera. It was a very cold night but I kind of fell into the habit of going out to shoot on cold days because it’s just not as crowded in NYC. I’ve lived in a small town when I was in college, and I found it a little too quiet for my taste, so I am definitely a person that loves the noise, the crowds, and the liveliness that comes with living in a big city. However, once in a while, it’s nice to have it all to yourself. My lens of choice was my 18mm Super Elmar, and I also brought along my Gitzo GT2542. [continue reading…]

Snow, Ice, And Then a Lot of Rain:
Today was definitely not a great day to take pictures but I went anyway. I decided to go light bringing only my Fuji X-T1 and the XF 10-24mm F4. I knew it was going to rain pretty bad, so I woke up very early in the morning to try to beat it but was greeted with ice all over the streets. It was snowing yesterday, and the temperatures were in the teens. Today, the temperature is around the lower 50’s. Because of this, the snow melts and forms into ice overnight as the temperature climbs. To top that off, I did not beat the rain; in fact, I was caught in a windstorm of rain, which basically made my umbrella useless. I guess I should be thankful someone invented Gortex, and the major rain actually came right after I got home ;). [continue reading…]

17TH Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade And Festival:
It was so cold over the weekend! Saturday was extremely cold but then Sunday came along, and according to the news, it was -1º F in the morning! With the windchill, it felt like -º20 F. Like a crazy person, I decided to go out early in the morning because I’ve been currently shooting with the Fuji XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS lens, and I thought I could get a few images early, and then go to the 17TH Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade And Festival in Manhattan. One thing is for sure: I can now state from experience that the X-T1 will handle extreme colds ;). [continue reading…]
Finally a Real Snowstorm in New York City:
We finally have our first snowstorm, Winter Storm Jonas, in New York City this year. Normally, I like my winters cold with snow on the ground. I love breathing in the cold air, and I love how quiet it gets when snow starts falling. Plus, the weather finally feels “normal” to me again for this season. For those who do not know, we’ve actually had a very mild winter until recently. Christmas here actually felt like a Spring day. However, while I love the snow, I wasn’t expecting a snowstorm this big for the first one of the year ;). [continue reading…]
Breakfast And Archery; Some Leica D-Lux Photos:
I was taking someone out for their birthday, and the photographer in me thought, “this is the perfect time to test out my new Leica D-Lux :)!” The D-Lux and I have a long history. I used to own the D-Lux 3, then 4, and then 5 but I pretty much stopped there because I had the M9. I’ve always wanted to get another D-Lux or any high end compact point and shoot because they are quite useful but they are much more expensive now (although the tech is a lot better as well). The truth is, a lot of these high end compacts have steadily increased in price not just the D-Lux series. [continue reading…]
