Fuji X70 Review:
So much has changed since the days of the first X100 or even the X-Pro1. The Fuji X Series has grown into a system that now encompasses an extensive range of products in an attempt to appeal to a broader range of photographers and enthusiasts. A new camera that has just been recently added to this growing system is the Fuji X70. This new camera uses essentially the same basic recipe that has made the X Series so popular amongst its followers, like the same sensor and analog controls of it’s other siblings, but puts it all in a very compact form. By doing this, Fuji hopes to appeal to users looking for a high end compact camera with the performance and characteristics of the X Series. [continue reading…]

Night Images With The Leica 18mm Super Elmar:
I am writing up my Fuji X70 review as we speak but I thought I’d post some photos I took last week with my Leica M 240. Last Friday, I met up with a friend, and of course, I also brought along my camera. It was a very cold night but I kind of fell into the habit of going out to shoot on cold days because it’s just not as crowded in NYC. I’ve lived in a small town when I was in college, and I found it a little too quiet for my taste, so I am definitely a person that loves the noise, the crowds, and the liveliness that comes with living in a big city. However, once in a while, it’s nice to have it all to yourself. My lens of choice was my 18mm Super Elmar, and I also brought along my Gitzo GT2542. [continue reading…]

Fuji X70 First Impressions:
I will be posting my review of the Fuji X70 probably by the end of this week but I thought I’d give all of you my overall first impressions of this camera. When I first heard about the X70, I thought it was a great idea. Who doesn’t want a compact camera with an APS-C sensor for about $700? However, there were two things I didn’t like about it right off the bat. I don’t like the fact that the X70 does not have a viewfinder, and while I’m okay with a fix focal length lens, I don’t like that it is essentially a 28mm equivalent. I’m just not a huge fan of a 28mm lens in general. [continue reading…]

Sunlows Orange-LL Leather Camera Strap Review:
A short while ago, there were just a few major camera strap companies out there but now, there are more manufacturers than ever before, and one of these companies is Sunlows. Sunlows is a company from Turkey that has been producing fine leatherwork for quite some time, and has brought that experience and knowledge to photography. They produce wrist straps, and neck straps made not just from leather but also from other various materials. One of their products is the Orange-LL, which is an all leather camera neck strap that Sunlows was kind enough to send me to review and evaluate. Here is what I think of it. [continue reading…]

Snow, Ice, And Then a Lot of Rain:
Today was definitely not a great day to take pictures but I went anyway. I decided to go light bringing only my Fuji X-T1 and the XF 10-24mm F4. I knew it was going to rain pretty bad, so I woke up very early in the morning to try to beat it but was greeted with ice all over the streets. It was snowing yesterday, and the temperatures were in the teens. Today, the temperature is around the lower 50’s. Because of this, the snow melts and forms into ice overnight as the temperature climbs. To top that off, I did not beat the rain; in fact, I was caught in a windstorm of rain, which basically made my umbrella useless. I guess I should be thankful someone invented Gortex, and the major rain actually came right after I got home ;). [continue reading…]
