Finally a Real Snowstorm in New York City:
We finally have our first snowstorm, Winter Storm Jonas, in New York City this year. Normally, I like my winters cold with snow on the ground. I love breathing in the cold air, and I love how quiet it gets when snow starts falling. Plus, the weather finally feels “normal” to me again for this season. For those who do not know, we’ve actually had a very mild winter until recently. Christmas here actually felt like a Spring day. However, while I love the snow, I wasn’t expecting a snowstorm this big for the first one of the year ;). [continue reading…]
Leica D-Lux Typ 109 in Walt Disney World:
I originally just wanted to bring the Fuji X-T10 and the XF 27mm F2.8 to Disney because I wanted to travel light. But right before my trip, I decided to purchase a new D-Lux Typ 109. I’ve always wanted one but I pretty much held out until now. Seeing as it’s already a pretty compact camera, I decided to bring it as well because I didn’t want to wait until I got back to use it :). Fuji X-T10 Review in Walt Disney World:
This is a great time to get into the The Fuji X Series System. There are more lenses than ever before, the tech is getting better, and there have been some recent big announcements, such as, the release of the long-awaited Fuji X-Pro2. But not everyone wants to shell out almost $1,700 for a camera body, especially if they just want to give the X Series a try. Luckily, Fuji also produces cameras that are more budget friendly. One of these cameras is the Fuji X-T10, which has always intrigued me because it’s essentially a stripped down version of the X-T1 (a camera that I own and love). I just never got around to trying one out but my recent trip to Walt Disney World seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. Disney is a great place to visit but it can be very crowded. The lines (even with their new Fast Pass system) can be excruciatingly long, and there is a lot of walking, so it’s best to travel light. The X-T10 is not only light, it is more compact than the X-T1. While it doesn’t have all the features of the X-T1, it does have the ones that count like the same sensor. In other words, this camera delivers essentially the same image quality as it’s bigger sibling. It also has some features not found in the X-T1 that are aimed at beginners, and intermediate users. Combine the X-T10 with a lens like the XF 27mm F2.8 (which is the only Fuji lens I brought to Disney), and one could potentially have really decent camera system to use when enjoying one’s vacation with family and friends is more important than being burdened with a lot of gear. Breakfast And Archery; Some Leica D-Lux Photos:
I was taking someone out for their birthday, and the photographer in me thought, “this is the perfect time to test out my new Leica D-Lux :)!” The D-Lux and I have a long history. I used to own the D-Lux 3, then 4, and then 5 but I pretty much stopped there because I had the M9. I’ve always wanted to get another D-Lux or any high end compact point and shoot because they are quite useful but they are much more expensive now (although the tech is a lot better as well). The truth is, a lot of these high end compacts have steadily increased in price not just the D-Lux series. [continue reading…]
Cecilia Gallery Leather Wrist Strap Review:
I bought a new Leica D-Lux Typ 109 in the solid gray color, and I’ve been looking around for a wrist strap for it. This time, I really didn’t want one made out of leather because I wanted something very flexible considering the camera is both compact and light. I also wanted a cord end instead of a metal O ring because it adds to the overall flexibility of the strap but I needed a cord that could withstand a lot of abuse because I did not want my camera to snap off. So, after an extensive search, I finally found a strap that fit my needs: the Cecilia Gallery leather wrist strap. [continue reading…]
