Fuji XF 16mm F1.4 R WR Lens Review

Fuji XF 16mm F1.4 R WR Lens Review:

There are quite a few wide angle lenses to choose from if you are invested in the Fuji X Series system.  Manufacturers like Fujifilm, Samyang, and Zeiss all make great wide angles.  Furthermore, there are even ones that can be adapted to fit on the X Series cameras thanks to the various adapters on the market.  So, why did Fujifilm feel the need to produce another wide angle lens?  Well, a fully complete camera system nowadays includes many different types of lenses.  To attract more buyers, especially DSLR users, Fuji needs to not only create uniquely different lenses for its system, it also needs to create lenses that DSLR users are accustomed to, and in this case, one crucial lens is a fast wide angle.  For instance, Nikon does have a 24mm F1.4 lens in their catalogue.  So, the fast wide angle lens that Fuji decided to produce is the XF 16mm F1.4 R WR lens (B&H Photo/Amazon), which is essentially a 24mm equivalent.  Due to its focal length, a lens like this may not be needed by every photographer but to some, the XF 16mm F1.4 may be one of the most important optics in a photographer’s kit. Fuji XF 16mm F1.4 R Lens Review Coming Soon

Fuji XF 16mm F1.4 R Lens Review Coming Soon:

I’ve had a very busy start to the summer, which I guess is a good thing.  It’s better to have more to do than nothing at all, right?  I’ve been reacquainting myself with old friends and meeting new ones.  I’ve been doing a lot of fishing and archery.  I’ve been going out a lot lately, and photographic wise, I’ve been having a blast with the Hasselblad 503CW.  I have to say, I am quite obsessed with medium format film right now.  I sent some film out for process and scanning, so I should have more photos to post here soon.  The good thing about this obsession is it’s actually gotten me to pick up my Leica M6 again.  Lastly, I’ve been testing the Fuji XF 16mm F1.4 R lens and while my review is not ready yet, I have to say that this is one killer lens. The Hasselblad Diaries: My Return to Medium Format

The Hasselblad Diaries:

Welcome to a new section on my blog: the Hasselblad Diaries.  I am super excited about this new section but let me give all of you a little background on why I decided to create it and what it is all about.  Like a lot of us these days, I primary shoot with digital now but I grew up in the film era.  I used Leica M cameras but there was a time when I also used a Mamiya 6 and then a 6MF.  I absolutely enjoyed using those cameras and I loved the results I got from medium format but I ended up trading in the 6 and later the 6MF for my Leica M6 TTL Millennium.  The Leica M6 is another fantastic camera, which I still currently own but I’ve always regretted trading in the Mamiyas.  That was over a decade ago but while I love my digital setup, for a while now, I’ve been fighting this urge to shoot film again, specifically medium format.  Well, I finally gave in to my cravings, and as some of you know, I began searching for a Hasselblad.  After many months, I finally found the perfect one for me, the Hasselblad 503CW Millennium Edition with 80mm Planar CFE lens in mint condition with box and papers, and while it was more than I thought I would spend, I couldn’t resist it. iClever 6-Port 50W 10A Fast USB Desktop Charger Review

iClever 6-Port 50W 10A Fast USB Desktop Charger Review:

Recently, I went to Japan, and while I double checked and tripled check to make sure I brought everything that I would need to photograph such an amazing place, there was one thing that I didn’t even think about: I didn’t take into account how many outlets my hotel room would have for me to charge my electronic devices.  The reality is that these days, we live in an age where we are dependent on electricity to power a lot of our equipment.  For instance, while my Leica M 240 has a lot of manual features, the bottom line is it won’t work without a charged battery.  Neither will my phone.  Nowadays, smart phones have so many complex features that they need even larger batteries than ever before.  When I went to Japan, I went with a couple of people, so we actually had to take turns charging our electronics because we simply ran out of outlets.  This is why I should’ve brought something like this iClever 6-Port 50W 10A Fast USB Desktop Charger with me on my trip.  This device was kindly sent to me by Hisgadget Inc for review purposes, and after a few weeks of testing, here is what I think of it. Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku Tokyo Japan

Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku Tokyo Japan:

I still haven’t gone through all the photos I took in Japan.  I’ve been busy with other things like upcoming reviews, and of course, the Hasselblad that I bought recently.  I also pinched a nerve in my upper back, so I wasn’t up for much of anything lately.  It’s also why there haven’t been many posts recently.  Now that I’ve sent some film to my lab and my back feels better, I thought I’d finish whatever photos I have left from my trip to Japan.  Right now, I’m going through one of my memory cards and I came across my photos from the Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku, and I thought I’d share some of them.
