A Walk Around Lower Manhattan With My Fuji X-T3

A Walk Around Lower Manhattan With My Fuji X-T3:

First thing’s first: Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there :).  Since it is Mother’s Day, I’m going to post the review I was going to put up today on either Monday or Tuesday.  I get the days mixed up a bit being home so much haha.  Anyway, I went for a quick walk around Lower Manhattan today because I had to bring some essentials to a family member. Plus, I needed the fresh air and a bit of exercise.  I went very early in the morning, and decided to take my Fuji X-T3 along with me. [continue reading…]

Monochrome Images With the Leica 35mm Summicron-M v4

Monochrome Images With the Leica 35mm Summicron-M v4:

For those looking for new reviews, one is coming this weekend.  It’s already done; I’m just working on the final touches.  But for now, I thought I’d post something short.  So, like many of you, I’ve been spending some of my new found extra time looking back at my archives right now, and I found a few images that I just felt like working on real quick.  These were taken with my Leica 35mm Summicron v4, or as some call it, the Bokeh King.  The camera that I used to create the images here was actually my Leica M9 (yes, I went very far back in my archives 🙂 ). Plans of Getting Back into Some Film Work

Plans of Getting Back into Some Film Work:

I’ve been spending nearly all my time home because of social distancing/isolation here in NYC.  I’ve caught up with a lot of my editing work that I had to do.  I have a few reviews coming up, and I had plans to post one this weekend but my desktop has been a mess with me re-organizing all my photos, so I wanted to finish with that first.  I’m moving tons of files out of my computer, and into back up drives right now.  I have been trying to be as productive as possible with the extra time but with that said, I’ve also been looking forward to the day when I can do shoots, and review gear out on the streets again.  With some of my extra time indoors, I’ve been googling quite a bit haha, and doing research on new ideas for street fashion and boudoir shoots.  I’ve also been looking into film quite a bit, which is something I plan on trying during one of my future shoots. Sigma 45mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens at B&H Photo:

Leica L Mount or Sony E Mount

As some of you know, I’ve raved about this lens in my review, which you can find here.  I tested this on the Leica SL at the time, and not only is it well-made, the image quality is excellent.  For those concerned with weight, it’s also worth mentioning that this is actually one of the more compact, and lighter L mount lenses. It balances beautifully on an L mount body, such as, the SL making it a breeze to carry around all day.  Yes, you can find all these traits in an M lens, for example, but unlike an M lens, the 45mm has fast autofocus.  Combined with its focal length, this is one of the most versatile lenses that you can get for the L mount system, if you ask me.  This is one of those lenses that can do so much, and something you won’t want to leave at home.  Highly recommended, especially at this price.

Leica Super Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH First Impressions

Leica Super Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH First Impressions

For those looking for an ultra wide angle lens that’s M mount, there are tons to choose from these days.  Of course, we have the Leica M lenses.  We also have some great choices from Voigtlander, and Zeiss.  There are other third party manufacturers as well.  But today, I’m going to talk about something from Leica, the Super Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH.  This particular copy in this write up is actually my own, and not a loaner.  I’ve had it for several years, and it’s seen quite a bit of use on multiple Leica bodies from the M 240 to even the SL.  I’ve always had plans to review this lens, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do so, since I can’t really review newer gear right now because of the corona virus pandemic.  So, here are my first impressions of it.
